Development & Marketing

Purpose: Work with the Wilton Historical Society’s Director and Public Engagement Manager to plan and execute public communications and marketing strategies, as well as provide support to the Visitor Services staff.

Terms of Employment: Part Time Non-Exempt, 16 hours per week, $21/hour. Flexible hours Tuesday through Friday. 10 am to 4pm Saturday. Special Holiday hours on Sunday from late November through mid-January. Occasional evening hours for special events.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Plan, design, and schedule weekly e-blasts in collaboration with Director. Familiarity with Constant Contact preferred.
  • Draft and schedule social media posts to Wilton Historical’s social media accounts. Proficiency with Facebook and Instagram required.
  • Assist in designing graphics and marketing materials for events, fundraisers, and exhibits. Familiarity or Proficiency with Canva and/or Photoshop/GIMP a plus.
  • Update and edit the Wilton Historical Spciety’s website. Proficiency with Wordpress preferred but not required.
  • Send out press releases and event calendar postings. Monitor and update the list of press contacts and community calendars.
  • Monitoring and responding to appropriate public inquiries via the Wilton Historical social media and email accounts.

Museum Operations Support

  • Assist with data entry and management of Wilton Historical’s Little Green Light donor management database related to donor contact.
  • Staff front desk and reception areas during Society special events and programs such as the Great Trains Holiday Show
  • Assist with management of the Wilton Historical gift shop, the Betts Store, completing transactions by visitors.
  • Tracking registrations for programs and fundraisers and generating registration reports for attendee check-in.
  • Assisting in the set-up, and execution of Wilton Historical programs as needed.

Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel a must
  • Familiarity with Audio/Visual equipment and IT knowledge a plus
