Ridgefield Historical Society Development Manager
The Ridgefield Historical Society in Ridgefield, Connecticut seeks a part-time Development Manager to advance the organization’s fundraising, membership, and events while supporting day-to-day operations at the Scott House. Working closely with the Executive Director, board, committees, volunteers, and community partners, the Development Manager will play an important role in increasing contributed and earned income and helping ensure that the Historical Society remains a welcoming and well-organized community institution.
The Development Manager will support and grow the Society’s fundraising efforts through donor and member cultivation and stewardship under the direction of the Executive Director, sponsorships, membership drive, annual appeal, and other revenue-generating initiatives. The position will maintain donor, member, sponsor, volunteer, and event records in Little Green Light; coordinate prompt acknowledgments and sponsor benefits; and assist with development communications and reporting.
The Development Manager will also assist in the planning and production of fundraising events including the Holiday House Tour, Garden Tour, Battle of Ridgefield Reenactment, and other special programs. Responsibilities include coordinating timelines, budgets, marketing, ticketing, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, printed materials, logistics, and event follow-up. The position will also assist with marketing and communications of the organization, help coordinate volunteers and interns, and manage the Society’s office, visitor services, and calendar.
We are looking for a highly organized, friendly, energetic, collaborative, and development-minded nonprofit professional with experience in fundraising and development, including donor or member cultivation, appeals, sponsorships, or other revenue generation. Candidates should also have event management and production experience, nonprofit work experience, and an interest in and understanding of history, museums, and historic preservation. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and technology skills are essential. A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Experience with Little Green Light, Constant Contact, WordPress, Canva, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Zeffy is preferred.
Part-time, 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., on-site at the Scott House, 4 Sunset Lane, Ridgefield, CT. $27 per hour, with occasional evenings, weekends, and other days required for events. Paid vacation, holidays, personal days, and sick leave.
