The Marketing Coordinator supports strategies that increase awareness of, visitation to, engagement with, and investment in the Florence Griswold Museum. Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, the position coordinates digital and print marketing, website and social media content, advertising, community and tourism outreach, audience information, and department records. The Marketing Coordinator works across the Museum to communicate its distinctive combination of art, history, nature, exhibitions, programs, and visitor experiences in a consistent institutional voice.

Responsibilities
· Coordinate the marketing calendar and production schedules for exhibitions, programs, events, membership, development initiatives, visitor information, and institutional communications.
· Develop advertising schedules, coordinate placements, track deadlines and specifications, and work with the supervisor and creative partners to produce accurate, on-brand materials within approved budgets.
· Create, edit, proofread, schedule, and publish engaging content for the Museum’s website, email, social media, and other digital platforms in the Museum’s institutional voice.
· Perform routine website updates and coordinate more complex changes with appropriate staff or outside partners; help ensure online information is timely, accurate, accessible, and consistent.
· Maintain a coordinated social media presence; develop content, monitor questions and comments, and route or respond to inquiries according to Museum practices.
· Research, write, photograph or film, produce, organize, and share digital content for social media, the Museum website, and other online platforms.
· Update media, cultural, tourism, community, and event calendars with information about Museum exhibitions, programs, and activities.
· Coordinate the creation and distribution of brochures, posters, advertisements, flyers, signage, promotional materials, and other marketing collateral.
· Maintain marketing databases, media lists, press clippings, photography, image assets, project files, permissions, and other department records.
· Assist with press materials, media outreach, publicity tracking, and responses to routine media or public-information requests as directed.
· Support audience-development initiatives, visitor and member research, surveys, promotional campaigns, and the collection and organization of attendance, geographic, redemption, digital, and campaign information.
· Compile routine marketing results and prepare reports or summaries to help evaluate advertising, promotions, website activity, social media, attendance, and audience engagement.
· Coordinate promotional partnerships, packages, and incentives with tourism organizations, community groups, cultural partners, and local businesses as assigned.
· Help market the Museum’s earned-income activities, including the Museum Shop, publications, food service, rentals, and special events.
· Collaborate with advancement staff on communications supporting membership, fundraising, sponsorships, donor engagement, and institutional events.
· Provide administrative and project support to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, including purchasing, invoices, schedules, vendor coordination, meeting preparation, and file management.
· Collaborate with colleagues to implement Museum goals and participate in staff, planning, and committee meetings as requested.
· Attend events and meetings outside regular business hours as required throughout the year.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
· Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, verbal communication, and organizational skills, with close attention to accuracy, detail, deadlines, and brand consistency.
· Experience or education in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, journalism, digital media, nonprofit communications, museums, or a related field.
· Ability to create and adapt content for websites, email, social media, print, advertising, and other communication channels.
· Working knowledge of social media platforms, content-management systems, email-marketing tools, digital asset organization, and basic performance reporting.
· Ability to take photographs or video and prepare simple digital content; experience coordinating with designers, photographers, videographers, printers, or media partners is preferred.
· Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new communications technologies and processes.
· Strong project-management skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects, contributors, schedules, vendors, and deadlines.
· Collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with staff, trustees, volunteers, community partners, media contacts, and vendors.
· Commitment to public service, accessibility, continuous improvement, professional integrity, and responsible representation of the Museum’s mission and programs.
· Ability to use audience and campaign information to identify patterns, organize work, and recommend practical improvements.
· Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
· Interest in museums, American art, history, nature, tourism, and cultural organizations is preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Work is performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in public spaces, offices, galleries, historic buildings, grounds, and event locations. Compliance with Museum health and safety protocols is required.
· The position routinely uses computers, telephones, cameras or mobile devices, and standard office equipment and frequently communicates in person and through electronic channels.
· The employee is required to move throughout the Museum campus, ascend and descend stairs, and stand or sit for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift, drag, or move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
