Education Program Manager (EPM)

Midtown is seeking an experienced Education Program Manager (EPM) to support and oversee educational programs at a museum or educational facility operated in support of a Federal Government Agency. The EPM will coordinate educational operations under the direction of the Program Manager and Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).

While the Government Education Specialist retains authority over educational policy, approved curricula, official public messaging, and Government program decisions, the EPM is responsible for managing the daily delivery of educational programming in the STEM/Mission Center and Innovation Lab, as well as supervising Contractor education personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Government-approved K–12 and adult education programs and recommend enhancements for Government review and approval.
  • Oversee the daily delivery of educational sessions conducted by Educational Program Assistants and volunteers, providing coaching, feedback, and quality assurance to maintain program effectiveness.
  • Serve as the operational coordinator for incoming school field trips, including scheduling, welcoming visiting classes, coordinating logistics, and managing visitor flow.
  • Manage the setup, safety, inventory, and use of educational materials and resources within approved funding and supply limits.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to train docents and volunteers in support of STEM, history, and other approved educational programs.
  • Coordinate educational activities to ensure alignment with Government-approved learning objectives, program requirements, and established operating procedures.
  • Monitor program delivery and identify opportunities to improve educational engagement, operational efficiency, and the overall visitor experience.
  • Maintain effective communication with Government representatives, school administrators, community organizations, and other program stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Education, Museum Studies, Public History, a STEM discipline, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 4–6 years of progressively responsible experience in museum education, curriculum development, educational programming, or education program administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with school administrators, community organizations, Government representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to oversee educational programs during weekends, school breaks, and special evening events as required.
  • Proven experience coordinating field trips and educational programs with regional school districts, homeschool networks, and community organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of educational curriculum frameworks, including the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and the ability to translate learning objectives into engaging, hands-on educational experiences.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and evaluating instructional staff; coordinating schedules; and managing educational materials and supplies.
  • Experience planning and executing mobile or off-site educational initiatives serving diverse, underserved, or geographically remote school communities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance with Government-approved program requirements, operational procedures, and applicable safety standards.
